Over a thousand band programs within the U.S. and many overseas as well are employing this system. The program is based on a level system to help students achieve in playing, counting, theory and more.  Jim also authored the E-Book Band Directors Guide to Principles of Musical Performance which is available on Amazon.  This book focuses on practical applications of how to teach/make music in the classroom with bands.

Jim believes that strongly in mentoring at all levels. Jim now teaches teachers in Brevard County as an Instructional Coach.  He visits and works with all secondary band directors in Brevard County.  Additionally, Jim believes strongly in mentoring younger band directors around the state of Florida. Through previous emails and forums, he mentors several directors on various teaching topics. Through this website, it will be much easier to address topics important to teachers in everyday settings.

By conducting all-county bands, rehearsing middle and high school bands as well as college summer band programs, and conducting the Band/Wind portion of CYA – Creative Young Artists Youth Orchestra, Mr. Matthews is able to work with many teachers and students throughout the state. His philosophy is to gain new ideas by giving away all of the ideas he has received and developed over the years. This philosophy has worked well and blessed many teachers and students.
